CAPABILITY

The Power of Predictable Growth

Discontinuity theory of

mental development

This empirically proven

theory states that capability

– the ability to do work –

grows with age along pre-

dictable patterns. The rate

of growth is individually

different.

The crucial factor is com-

plexity.

When a person’s current

level of complexity-capa-

bility is properly assessed

on the basis of this theory,

very valid predictions of

future growth of capability

can be made.

Stratified Systems

Theory

The essence of SST is to

ensure that people are given

tasks that correspond to

their level of capability

(ability to handle complex-

ity).

This ensured, optimal

degree of motivation, pro-

ductivity and creativity

(”flow”) can be obtained.

Consequently, organiza-

tional stratification should

correspond to the levels

structure of human mental

development

Systems Leadership

Theory

SLT highlights the intimate

relationships between the

values and the culture exi-

sting in an organization.

SLT focuses sharply on

how values are expressed

through leadership beha-

vior, symbols used, and –

not the least – through the

system that the organiza-

tion employs in organizing

work.

Systems should be autho-

rized and productive and

foster a sense of fairness

 and trust in the organi-

zation.
